YOUNGSTER Glenn Billing reckons it will be tough to top his show-stopping four-goal display for the Swindon Wildcats on Sunday.

The 17-year-old, who plays for the Link Centre-based Okanagan Academy, stole the headlines as he netted his first goal for Ryan Aldridge’s side, before going on the find the target three more times as Swindon hammered the Invicta Dynamos 9-1 in the Challenge Cup.

Billing, watched by his parents at the Link, received a barrage of pats on the back from his more-experienced teammates and said: “It was an unreal feeling.

“It’s once in a lifetime that you score four for a pro team and it was my first goal.

“I felt more confident after the first one went in and they just kept on coming – I couldn’t believe it really.

“You feel much more part of it when you’re contributing points-wise.

“They’re all really good guys and they just supported me all the way through.

“I’m very lucky that Ryan let me play with these boys. Aaron (Nell), Jan (Kostal) and Jonas (Hoog) give me tips in training all the time and they want to see young Brits do well, as everyone else does.

“My mum and dad were there. They’re from Essex because I obviously live here on my own and I’m glad they were here to see that.

“There was a few of the academy boys as well, behind the glass, and I caught some of their eyes and they were all really happy for me as well, so it’s a great feeling. It might not happen again ever.”

Billing was delighted to take his opportunity with both hands but isn’t sure if he’ll be breaking into Aldridge’s English Premier League side on a regular basis in the near future.

He said: “That’s up to Ryan. But I’ll try my best in training, try and make an impression, and we’ll see how we go.

“Hopefully I can establish myself in the team somehow.”
