RYAN Aldridge may have seen his side tame the Telford Tigers tonight, ending the English Premier League leaders’ ten-match unbeaten run, but the Swindon Wildcats head coach was left with a sour taste in his mouth.

The Swindon chief was dismayed with Telford’s roughhousing during his side’s dominant 4-0 victory at the Link Centre, with the visitors losing their cool as they were comprehensively beaten.

Aldridge was disgusted with one particular incident, which saw the Tigers’ Blahoslav Novak hit Alex Symonds from behind, with the two players handed game-penalties for their ensuing melee, and says that he plans to send video footage of the clash to the league as part of a complaint.

“I thought they were pretty classless tonight to be honest with you. I guess money doesn’t buy class,” said the Swindon boss.

“There was some stuff that I thought was pretty wrong and I’ll be sending the video in to the league, especially about the fight on Symonds.

“It’s disgusting. Anybody that jumps somebody from behind should be getting a massive suspension in my book, especially with the way concussions are nowadays.

“There’s just no need for it. You jump someone, you should get five-six game ban.

“(Novak) has pulled a clump out of his hair. We believe we saw a kicking motion when he had him bent over. We’ll be cutting the video tonight and sending that to the league.

“It’s just classless. There’s no need for that in our sport.”

Away from the flash points, Tomasz Malasinksi scored twice whilst Aaron Nell and Henri Sandvik were also on target.

But Aldridge reserved special praise for netminder Stevie Lyle, who saved every one of the 51 shots smashed his way to shut out high-flying Telford.

“He looked like he was when he was 16. He was engaged for every single shot. We probably could have played six or eight periods and they weren’t going to score,” said the Wildcats coach.

“When he’s in that frame of mind, there’s just no beating him – he was outstanding.

“Obviously, when we see Stevie playing so well, it gives us the confidence to go forward.

“Everybody did what was asked of them tonight. Usually there are people who have a night off but that didn’t happen and we were successful because of it.”
