SWINDON Wildcats suffered back-to-back defeats as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of MK Lightning.

Played in front of a crowd of more than 1,200 at the Link Centre, Ryan Aldridge’s men looked flat as they succumb to their second defeat of the weekend.

First period power-play goals from Lascek and Tomasz Malasinski kept the scores level at the end of the first period but Milan Kostourek restored the visitors lead in the second.

Blaz Emersic scored a fine solo effort to give Lightning a comfortable cushion and the Cats looked out of options as the found Stephen Wall to me an immovable force in goal. After being sent from the game last night against Basingstoke Bison, Shane Moore took less than two minutes to find his way into the bin tonight.

This time he was reacting to, what appeared to be an elbow to the face of Jonas Hoog from Ross Green, which left many on the Wildcats bench appealing.

It was a penalty that led to the opening goal of the game when Aaron Nell was harshly adjudged to have cross-checked one of the Lightning players.

With less than ten seconds remaining in the power play it was Lascek who pounced after Lightning worked it across the face of Stevie Lyle’s net.

The Cats were able to respond in the first period as they took advantage of their own power-play.

With Kostourek in the sin-bin for minor interference on Lyle, it was Malasinski who hit a slap-shot from the middle that just managed to make its way under the body of Wall and creep over the line.

Swindon continued to press in the second period but it was the visitors who took the lead for a second time in the 36th minute.

Kostourek was able to work his way from behind the goal to Lyle's right and squeeze the puck under the goalies body, before turning away to goad the home fans with his celebration.

There was a bit of commotion before the start of the third period and the Zamboni was brought back out to clear the ice for a second time.

The visitors further extended their advantage five minutes into the second period as Emersic out-muscled the Wildcats defence to fire past Lyle from close range.

The third period descended into chaos with five minutes to go after a big hit on Jan Kostal led to a mass brawl and both Kostal and MK Lightning’s Grant McPherson both ending up in the sin-bin.

The home-side could not find a way back into the tie and fell to their first defeat to MK Lightning this season.
