SWINDON Wildcats coach Ryan Aldridge is on the hunt for British players to add to his squad.

The Link Centre boss has seen his side suffer from fatigue and is loooking to address the problem.

“We’d like to make the squad a little bit deeper if we could, and that is adding guys to it not taking away,” said Aldridge ahead of this tonight’s clash with Sheffield Steeldogs.

“That is because the guys on Sunday were tired because they had too much ice time on the Saturday night.

“There is just nothing available right now, and if there is we would defintiely speak to them.

“The only one that has come available this week is the guy from Guildford, (Ollie) Bronnimann, but he wants to take the rest of the year out to concentrate on work.

“You have to be realistic in the summer and have to worry about all the different variables like your gate, your sponsorship.

“If you go ahead and spend more than you have coming in you could end up in a bad situation.”

Swindon welcome back Stevie Whitfield to the side that travel to Sheffield today, after he missed last weekend with concussion.

“Sheffield are always tough and we have just got to go there with the right frame of mind, we know how they like to play and compete and we have got to rise above that and focus on the skill side of the game,” added Aldridge.

“It’s about staying focused on the job inhand and not getting sucked into their stuff and we have just got to battle in those key areas in front of the net.”
