SWINDON Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge thinks that his side’s already sky-high confidence was handed yet another monumental boost by their electrifying win at Milton Keynes Lightning tonight.

Despite trailing 2-0 midway through the first period, the Link Centre men came from behind and then set about tearing their hosts asunder with ruthless efficiency in Buckinghamshire to stretch their winning run to six matches in all competitions and send out a fearsome statement to the rest of the English Premier League with an 11-3 victory.

Tomasz Malasinski spearheaded the rout with three goals whilst Jonas Hoog, Jan Kostal and Henri Sandvik all netted braces.

Aaron Nell and Sam Bullas all get themselves on the scoresheet as the Swindon racked up their biggest victory over the season so far and Aldridge was left purring over his team’s sparking display on the ice.

“We were 2-0 down and obviously weren’t playing too good. We called a time-out, regrouped and went from there,” said the Wildcats chief.

“They obviously took a silly penalty on Aaron (Nell) and it cost them.

“It gave us momentum and we never stopped from then on.

“I think when it was 3-2 (in the first period), it was pretty obvious that they looked like they didn’t have much tonight.

“We scored some very nice goals tonight. Five of them were very classy goals.

“Jonas and Tomasz scored some very nice goals tonight and I was happy with it.

“We talked about just saving energy in the third – we’ve got a big game on Saturday night (at home to Telford Tigers) – so we wanted to conserve energy and take our foot off the gas a bit but play good defence and I thought we did that for the most part.

“It’s just all about confidence right now.

“The boys are shooting the puck well; the boys are taking care of the defensive zone really well.

“Our system seems to be working and we’ve just got to keep it positive now and keep the momentum going now.

“Whenever you score 11 goals, it’s massive.

“We’ve got one more game before we break up for Christmas and the boys deserve it.”
