THERE was a sting in the tail of the Bracknell Bees as they came from behind to beat Swindon Wildcats 3-1.

Aaron Nell had put Swindon ahead at the John Nike Leisure Complex but the home side fought back, in what was a scrappy game, to claim the win.

Stevie Lyle was the busier of the two keepers in a first half that left little to the imagination as Swindon failed to get going.

Alex Symonds, who was in the line-up after having his exclusion from Saturday’s match against Manchester Phoenix was downgraded, found himself back in the sin bin less than four minutes into the encounter for holding.

The Cats looked un-troubled with a man short and Aaron Nell had the best chance to put the visitors ahead when Jonas Hoog, at the back post, found the forward but he dragged his shot just wide.

Symonds started the second period in the same manner as the first as he soon found himself back in the sin-bin for delay of the game.

However being one player light did not hinder them as Nell was able to catch the hosts on the counter and at the second time of asking he fired past Tom Annetts to give the Cats a surprise lead in the 22nd minute.

The short-handed goal did not give the visitors the impetuous in the game that head coach Ryan Aldridge would have wanted and the Bees soon found themselves back in the game.

Lyle’s goal came under immense pressure with the home side camped in the Cats final third and after several attempts from Jan Bendik the Slovakian finally found a way past the veteran keeper.

The D-man was found by Harvey Stead in the centre of the ice and he was able to spin and fire low past Lyle.

Bracknell were able to double their lead before the break when Matt Towalski was able to convert his penalty shot in the 33rd minute.

After being clean through on Lyle’s net a combination of the goalie and Nell from behind impeded the forward resulting in the free shot at goal.

The Cats started the third period brightly and were soon in a power-play situation after a trip on Malasinski sent the Pole into the side-boards, but the visitors were unable to capitalise.

The game descended into a stop-start affair in the final period and the contest was put beyond the Cats with five minutes to go when Bendik was found open at the far post to tap home.
