SWINDON Wildcats are skating into a maelstrom of retribution this weekend and head coach Ryan Aldridge is hoping that his team can keep their cool in their quest for maximum points.

English Premier League table-toppers Telford Tigers visit the Link Centre this evening (face-off 6pm) but will be out to set the record straight after being vanquished on both of their previous visits to Swindon.

Then on Sunday, Aldridge’s side are the team with revenge on their minds as they return to the Bracknell Bees (face-off 6pm) just seven days after suffering a disappointing 3-1 defeat to the league’s basement boys.

“I look forward to playing Telford. The games against them always seem to bring out the best in us,” said Wildcats chief Aldridge.

“They won’t want to lose to us again, especially in our building, but I think that the way they play and the way they come at you does suit us.

“What we do depends on how they play but they like to come at you and I think they’ve played like that all season, even when I watched them against Basingstoke (last September).

“We’ll absolutely be looking for revenge on Sunday.

“I think we were a bit tired last week. I’d worked the guys hard in practice because we’d had the Christmas break, so we’ve had a lighter practice this week.

“We let the points get away last week so we want to go to their building and get them back.

“The boys were more deflated than I was last week and they know what we have to try and do.”

Aldridge has a fully-fit Wildcats squad to choose from for this weekend’s assignments and revealed that import D-man Kenton Smith could be close to regaining a place in his line-up.

In recent weeks, the Swindon boss has opted to ice his offensive imports, leaving experienced Canadian Smith twiddling his thumbs on the sidelines.

Aldridge said: “I definitely think that I want to get Kenton playing again soon.

“I may decide to change the way we play, especially after last Sunday, and I’m sure that we’ll get him back out there soon.”
