GOALS are on the menu for the Swindon Wildcats this weekend if they are to come away with full points says head coach Ryan Aldridge.

That might prove to be a tough task with the loss of Finnish forward Henri Sandvik, who left the club at the beginning of the week, but Aldridge has confidence in his side and says they won’t be changing anything in their game plan ahead of the weekend.

The Cats face Peterborough Phantoms at the Link Centre before travelling to Milton Keynes Lightning on Sunday evening and Aldridge is expecting a tough test against a Peterborough side they have only beaten once in three meetings this season.

“I am feeling good going in to the weekend. We have everyone fit so there are no problems,” said the Link Centre boss.

“We will be preparing the same as normal, we’re not going to change the way we play for anyone right now.

“We’ll just do the same thing and this week in practice we’ll go through the same things and go from there.

“Without Henri, Richardson will play up front but we played the same way on Sunday night against Bracknell and it is pretty much routine to be honest.”

Swindon completed a comprehensive 11-3 victory over Lightning last time they travelled to Planet Ice in what has to go down as their best on the road performance of the year.

Aldridge is not expecting a similar scoreline this time around but knows that scoring goals will be key again.

“Especially because of the way we beat them last time in their building they are going to want some kind of revenge,” added Aldridge.

“They are definitely going to come hard, there is no doubt about that, but we are just going to have to play the same way we play. We’ll have to play very well defensively and take our chances when they come.

“We know we are going to have to score three or four goals to win the hockey game so we are going to need to start putting the puck in the net more.”

With a Challenge Cup semi-final against Manchester Phoenix on Wednesday Aldridge has admitted that it will be hard not to have one eye on that game, but will look to secure the league points first.

“Depending on how the game is going on both Saturday and Sunday, but Sunday especially, will depend on how much we rest guys or play guys,” said Aldridge.

“Depending on how the score-line is going with one eye on the cup game.

“Of course the cup is the priority but we are not going to go easy on the league games either, we want to keep winning every game if we can.”
