SWINDON Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge is waiting to hear from the league if there will be any ramifications from Sunday night’s match with Telford Tigers.

The Link Centre boss has submitted his views on the game after the match was brought to a premature end, with Telford’s Scott McKenzie being taken to hospital with a head injury after a hit from Tomas Kana.

McKenzie was released from hospital the same night but Aldridge is still unhappy with the ‘premeditated’ attack on Tomasz Malasinski from Jason Silverthorn, who missed last night’s Challenge Cup semi-final with Guildford Flames along with head coach Tom Watkins.

“I have sent my views to the league on the game and I got a reply last night to say they are looking into the game so I will see what happens from that,” said Aldridge.

“I don’t know if they will give the video footage in to be honest. They have taken it down offline already so they obviously have something to hide so we’ll see what happens.

“He (Silverthorn) had a match penalty anyway so he was definitely going to miss that game and I think he might be on points as well so he might get an extra game for that.

“The rest will be down to the league on how they feel he handled himself, sitting on the bench and then coming out and doing what he did.

“It wasn’t a heat of the moment thing, it was something he sat there and thought about but that is up to the league.”

It was an eventful weekend for new singing Kana, who was also sent from Saturday night’s game with Sheffield Steeldogs for a hit on Ben Morgan.

Aldridge said that the Czech forward was ‘upset’ following Sunday night’s game but he would not change the style of the centre.

“I think he was pretty upset on Sunday night for hurting the kid,” he added.

“The thing is he is a big strong lad who hits well and he hurt two players in two games with both fair hits in my eyes so it’s tough for him on that.

“Throughout the weekend I thought the team toughness was good and the boys wanted to play the rest of the game but it was our decision not to.

“Tomas is a big hitter and I don’t think you can take that out of his game.

“Boys have got to skate with their heads up and that is part of hockey.”
