SWINDON Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge will be missing his home comforts as he prepares for a tough weekend on the road.

There will be no game at the Link Centre this weekend as Swindon travel to Guildford Flames on Saturday before getting back in the bus to head to Peterborough Phantoms on Sunday.

Aldridge is not expecting any welcoming gifts from either side but is confident after a good 5-1 midweek win over Milton Keynes Lightning.

“If we have two points out of the weekend ,then I will be a happy man,” said the Link Centre boss.

“The win against MK Lightning was massive because the weekend is such a tough one, both on the road against two tough teams.

“Guildford is a tough building to go to. They are a solid hockey team.

“When we are successful, it is because everyone has played hard for 60 minutes and bought in.

“After Wednesday, there is no doubt I have confidence going into that building.”

This weekend, Swindon could be without Tomasz Malasinski, who missed the win over MK Lightning.

The Polish forward faces a late fitness test and Ollie Betteridge is still absent after fracturing his knee at the beginning of the year.

Following their clash with the Flames, Aldridge is hoping that his side will not be left in awe of a Peterborough outfit that have only lost once to the Wildcats so far this season.

“Peterborough is a completely different ball game,” he added.

“It is a smaller ice pad and it is even smaller because you don’t want to go anywhere near the boards. You want to stay two feet in off the boards because the ice is so bad.

“It’s really pot luck when you go to that building and they have obviously got a team that is flying right now.

“I don’t think we are ever ready to play in that building and I think they definitely have a massive home team advantage. “They are very good offensively and they move the puck well, and we seem to get dazzled by that and get caught puck-watching.

“In that little building, we’ve got to go in there and play smart.”
