WITH the play-offs on the horizon import Tomas Kana has assured Swindon Wildcats fans that the best is yet to come from him.

The Czech import made an immediate impact after joining at the tail end of January. His big hitting style saw him given a match penalty in only his second game, before he brought the encounter with Telford Tigers to a premature end with a strong hit on Scott McKenzie.

In recent weeks the forward it appears as if Kana has curbed that side of his game.

Now, the forward is dropping weight every week and is adamant he has more to offer on the ice.

When asked if the Wildcats fans had seen the best of him he replied: “It is still to come.

“I feel settled like three weeks ago, after a week I was settled. The guys are great and everything has worked for me and I am pretty happy to be here right now.

“The guys are awesome and I am having a good time.

“I lost a couple of kilos last week and I am going to be in better shape and I will be better on the ice.

“I need to show the fans what I really know I can do.

“I don’t think I have shown them the best from me yet and I hope to do that in the play-offs.”

Kana missed last Sunday’s game at Sheffield Steeldogs after being ruled out with concussion but still made the trip with the team.

The 27-year-old was the victim of a hit from behind from Joe Rand, of the Basingstoke Bison, which led to him vomiting on the side-lines.

However Kana has said he will be fit for this weekend’s clash with Peterborough Phantoms at the Link Centre.

With tomorrow night’s opponents now guaranteed to be the team who Swindon will face in the play-offs the former NHL player knows the importance of setting out their stall.

“I hope so and that is why I am here probably,” said Kana when asked if his experience would be key when it comes to the play-offs.

“I think we have a pretty good chance to do something there and it is a zero-zero game and we will see what happens.

“We will probably play Peterborough, who we play on Saturday, so we must step it up and show them what we are going to do to them in the play-offs.“We need to send them a message.”
