THE season came to a disappointing end on Sunday with defeat to Peterborough but on reflection, looking back at the season, I feel we have made another step in the right direction.

As a team, we made the cup semi-final and finished fifth in the league, so you have got to look at that as a good campaign.

With Henri Sandvik leaving and Tomas Kana coming in, that made things a bit difficult but we rallied and we had that good run of form over Christmas that really pushed us up the table.

We are not looking at all of a sudden turning into a top-three team. We are building and certainly, we have laid another building block this season to keep going.

With Stevie Lyle coming in as head coach and maybe a few changes, we will be ready to go again and it will be another effort next season to build on what we have done this year.

Personally, I feel like I have had a good season and I have really enjoyed having a bit more responsibility with ice time.

I am not too happy with some key games where I feel I didn’t performed well enough - Manchester away in the cup, I had a poor game, and Saturday against Peterborough, I don’t feel I played well enough, which is something you need to do to be a key player in the team.

Now it is time to recover. I haven’t got any knocks at the moment but I will be looking to make sure I am back to 100 per cent and then in three or four weeks, I will start working out in the gym hard and that will be my summer.

The main thing is you take advantage of not having to play because it is an opportunity to get stronger.

It is something that is very difficult to do during the year because you are just going from game to game and it is a case of not trying to deteriorate too much.

Then in July or August, I will get on the ice once a week to get the feel of the puck back and I will be ready to go.
