KEITH Mayo says he has been impressed with the work that Ryan Martin and Danny Bharj have put in ahead of their fights on Saturday night.

The Greenbridge-based promoter is staging his latest show at the GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester this weekend and his two Horseshoe Gym fighters have been working with Richard Farnan for their bouts.

It seems Mayo has liked what he has seen in the gym.

“They have been looking really good in sparring,” he said. “I saw them at the end of last week and again on Monday and I was really pleased – I’m looking forward to seeing them on Saturday.”

Light-welterweight Bharj tackles the durable veteran Ibrar Riyaz in his second outing in the paid ranks.

However, Mayo is currently working on a new opponent for his unbeaten welterweight prospect Martin, after Italian-born Londoner Victor Edagha suffered a final round stoppage loss to Craig Morris last weekend.

“The boy Riyaz may have had quite a few losses (86 from 93 contests) but he rarely gets stopped and it is going to be a tough night for Danny,” Mayo said.

“We have also got Akeem Ennis-Brown on the show and he is exciting to watch, while the main event is Andy Harris fighting Chris Adaway for the new Challenge title.

“Those two are normally the away fighters on a lot of shows so this is a chance for them to fight for something that they wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to do so.”

There are still a few tickets remaining for the show in Gloucester, they are priced £35 unreserved and £50 ringside. For more information visit www.kmpromotions.co.uk
