STEVIE Lyle has backed Slovakian Miroslav Zalesak to be one of the top scorers in the league after his hat-trick handed the Welshman his first home victory.

Lyle worked hard over the summer to secure the 35-year-old and, along with Sami Ryhanen, Jan Kostal and Tomasz Malasinski, claimed he had the best imports in the league.

Against Bracknell Bees this evening they began to click and Lyle hopes that they will continue to cause teams trouble this summer.

“That was the reason I was on the phone to him all summer, because I know he is a top import in any league and for us to get him is a great coup,” said Lyle.

“I would like to think it is the strongest line in the league.

“From a defensive point, we just want to get the puck up to those guys and let them work their magic.

“It is not going to happen every night, but I can pretty much guarantee that he will be up there in the top scorers come the end of the season.

“It is a long season, and there are going to be some games where teams shut those two (Zalesak and Ryhanen) but I still have two other strong lines to keep coming at teams.

“I think it is just a case of taking care of our own end now and sort that out a little bit better.”

Two first period strikes from Miroslav Zalesak had many at the link Centre thinking a repeat of the rout in pre-season was on the cards.

However, the Bees came out stronger in the second period and were soon back on level terms thanks to goals from Lukas Smital and Milan Kostourek.

Callum Buglass celebrated his first goal in a Wildcats jersey to hand Swindon back the lead, but the sides were level going into the third period when Frantisek Bakrlik fired home.

The Czech right wing got his second of the game as Bracknell took the lead for the first time four minutes into the third period.

That sparked Swindon into life and Sami Ryhanen got the home side back level before Aaron Nell got a short-handed goal two minutes later.

Zalesak completed his hat-trick before Nell and skipper Jan Kostal wrapped up the scoring.

Lyle was happy with his first home win as Wildcat head coach but says there is still more work to do.

"We had a dodgy first two periods, but the third period we seemed to bring it together,” he added.

"I think we are just relying on one or two players, and obviously they came through for us tonight but we can't do that every weekend because that is going to come back and bite us.

"I am very happy to get a win tonight, but there is a lot of work in our defensive end to work on."

Swindon now travel to Sheffield Steeldogs tomorrow evening looking to make it a four point weekend.
