JONAS Höög has said he is delighted to be back with the Swindon Wildcats and is ready to give his all for the club.

The Swede made a return to the side last Thursday, just a day before player/coach Stevie Lyle, who is said to have brought him back into the fold, quit the club unexpectedly.

Höög was unfazed by the change at the top and set about making an immediate impact as he provided three assists in Swindon’s 7-4 win over Guildford Flames on Saturday.

The 29-year-old, who became a father in September, says that coming back later has worked out well for him and he has assured fans that he is physically fit, if a bit game rusty.

“It feels good. I wanted to come back earlier but it worked out fine and it is good for me and I hope it works out well for the team,” he told the Adver following the 5-1 loss at Basingstoke Bison on Sunday.

“For me it works well to come in a little later as it gave me some time with my kid.

“He (Stevie Lyle) text me and asked me if I was interested in coming back and then after we talked to each other and came up with a deal Steve Nell booked the ticket for me and I came back.

“It is good to be back. This is my first two games in seven months and I was really excited to play some games.

“I think the fitness is there but game wise I am a little bit shaky and I am not quite up to speed yet. Give me a couple more weeks and I will be back in sync.”

Höög only had two training sessions with his team-mates after linking up with the side last week but after the weekend’s two games he is already impressed by the changes made to the side since he departed at the end of last season.

Swindon have made a better start to the campaign than they did last year and the Swede, who has never won a trophy with Swindon, is hoping he can help them achieve success this time out.

“I think we look stronger and there are some good players from what I have seen and I think we can achieve something good this season,” he added.

“I feel good and we played well on Saturday (against Guildford Flames) and Sunday it was not so good with the big ice pad.

“Aaron and myself have known each other for a long time, we have been playing together four or five years, and he knows where I am on the ice and I know where he is.

“We fit pretty well together and we played with Malasinski last year and now we are playing again so it feels normal.”
