WE HAD to wait a long time but we are really happy to finally get that four-point weekend under our belts.

There was a good feeling in the locker room on Sunday evening and I think it makes it extra sweet considering who we played.

Both Milton Keynes and Basingstoke were top of the table prior to the games, so it was great to be able to beat them.

We always look forward to a good game against those teams. Everyone has to buy in if we’re to get the right result and a lot of effort goes in. There were a lot of tired bodies in the locker room afterwards but we were all feeling good.

This season we are playing up a level against the good teams but then not finding our normal level against the teams we should be beating, so that’s something we have got to look at.

We are in mid-table and have been ticking along by going win-lose, win-lose, but hopefully now we will kick on.

I think the fact that was only our first four-point weekend just shows the strength of every team in the league, there is no easy weekend. Every team comes to play, especially when you are up against these top teams.

We tend to put an awful lot of energy into the Saturday game so I’m not sure whether it’s a case that we are then struggling to keep it going on Sunday.

There is certainly a different way to play away from home, which maybe we haven’t quite grasped yet.

We did a good job of it last week and that’s something we will be looking at trying to continue - going into a Sunday game after a hard game on Saturday, and hopefully a win, and then follow it up with a tough away performance to try to get another two points.

I think it helped playing the away game on Saturday last week because we came back into our own rink with a bit more energy and the fact that all the fans were behind us meant it was easier to get going.

However, we do play mostly on a Saturday so we are just going to have to get used to it the other way round again.
