SWINDON Wildcats player/coach Aaron Nell said that on another night his side would have been coming away from the John Nike Leisure Centre with all the points.

The visitors ended up falling to a 4-3 defeat against a Bracknell Bees side who were in control of the game for the first two periods.

However, Swindon did not give up and had chances to level the game in the dying minutes but could not find a way past Alexander Mettam.

"We are disappointed we lost, but we worked hard for 60 minutes and we went all the way to the end," said Nell.

"We had a lot of chances and on another night it could have been a different scoreline.

"We didn't quite get the bounces tonight and that happens.

"We're not going to win every game and they were a desperate hockey team with all that is happening here."

Swindon started slowly and Frantisek Bakrlik eventually put the hosts in front in the final minute of the first period.

Second period strikes from Scott Spearing and Milan Kostourek put the hosts in a strong position before Carlo Finucci and Lee Richardson struck back.

However, 19 seconds after Swindon’s second, Bracknell restored their two goal cushion through Matt Foord and a Jonas Höög strike eight minutes from time was not enough to force overtime.

“They came hard and they always do at this rink,” added Nell.

“The first period wasn’t our best period and in the last minute one of the best players in the league scored a great goal and that happens.

“If we got through that period at 0-0 it might have been a different hockey game.

“The fourth goal was a killer. We wanted to win it by the end of the second and we have got to relax in those situations.

“We didn’t quite get the bounces in the second or third and had chance after chance but didn’t get the bounces tonight.”

Swindon’s number two net-minder Jordan Hedley played the full 60 minutes for the second time in four games and Nell was pleased to give the young stopper more match experience.

“It wasn’t easy and he made some very good saves,” he said.

“Their goals were all good goals and Jordan was good tonight.

“He kept us in it at points and when we went down 3-0 it was disappointing but we had plenty of time.

“Jordan played great tonight and we have said that we want both him and Stevie (Lyle) to stay for a while.

“Stevie is great with Jordan and he is going to bring him up.”
