AARON Nell has challenged his Swindon Wildcats troops to repeat the trick and claim a second straight four-point weekend.

A win at home to Telford Tigers last Saturday followed by victory away at bottom side Bracknell Bees saw the Cats complete just their fourth perfect haul in the English Premier League so far this season.

Swindon welcome Sheffield Steeldogs to the Link Centre on Saturday before travelling east along the M4 again 24 hours later for another battle with Bracknell.

It is the Cats who have shown plenty of steel in their two home matches against Sheffield so far in 2015-16, shipping just one goal in that time.

If Swindon can perform to a similar standard this weekend, it will go a long way in achieving player/coach Nell’s aim of another twin win.

“We’ve had two good performances against Sheffield at home already and if we can keep them down to one goal I will be very happy,” said Nell.

“They are a good team and are on a good run at the moment. They have had some good results in the last few weeks and they beat us up at their place not too long ago so we know it’ll be a tough game.

“We had a little bit of a sticky period after Christmas and it was important to get a four-point weekend. We’ve not had enough of them so far this season.

“If we can get two more wins this weekend then that’s four in a row and we will have a little bit of a spring in our step again.

“Bracknell worked us exceptionally hard and made us earn the two points but in the end we got them and that’s what matters.

“On paper we should be beating Bracknell but hockey isn’t played on paper so we are prepared for another real battle.”

Swindon’s Matt Selby was withdrawn in the second period at Bracknell last Sunday after hitting his face on the ice following a fight with Bees player James Gallazi.

The D-man has not suffered a concussion but he will remain on the sidelines for this weekend’s double header.

Nell added: “Matt is not going to be playing this weekend. It is not as bad as we first feared but he’s going to sit it out.

“It’s not a concussion but he has a history of head injuries so we’re not going to risk him.”
