SWINDON Wildcats recorded a fourth consecutive win as they completed a routine 3-2 win away to Bracknell Bees.

The visitors took a first period lead through Tomasz Malasinski before Ivan Antonov had the hosts back level midway through the second period.

A two-minute brace from Nell before the second break had Swindon in control and a late Connor Thompson goal was not enough for the home side.

Swindon headed down the M4 without Matt Selby and Corey McEwen, who were both missing with injury.

Meanwhile, Bracknell were adjusting to life without top point scorer Milan Kostourek after he left the club in the week to join German outfit Lausitzer Fusche.

Swindon started slowly and Jordan Hedley was the busier of the two stoppers as he pulled off a fine double save to deny Carl Thompson, before being called into action again to save from Josh Martin.

Swindon took eight minutes before they tested Alexander Mettam in the Bracknell net, with Stevie Whitfield firing through the crowd and Nell was unable to tip it home.

A penalty in the 10th minute changed the complex of the game when Scott Spearing was penalised for slashing.

On his way off the ice he made contact with Nell, with the Swindon player-coach falling to the ice, and the Bracknell man saw his penalty increased for attempted spearing, while Nell also entered the bin for embellishment.

With the man advantage, the breakthrough came in the 14th minute when Jonas Höög dropped the puck back to Neil Liddiard, who was not closed down and he fired one into the mixer and Malasinski was on hand to tip it past Mettam and give Swindon a first period advantage.

Nell thought he had doubled Swindon’s advantage in the 23rd minute after Höög found him in space from the left but his effort skimmed the outside of Mettam’s post.

For all of Swindon’s pressure it was the hosts who were able to pull themselves back level in the 31st minute when Thompson saw an effort blocked by a combination of Callum Buglass and Jordan Hedley, before Spearing found Antonov to bundle his effort home.

Two goals in less than two minutes towards the end of the period gave Swindon a comfortable lead in the contest.

First Malasinski came from behind the net to pick out Nell in space in the middle and the forward made no mistake with his first time effort.

It was a Malasinski and Nell combination again for Swindon’s third 77 seconds later as the Pole picked out the Brit with a lovely pass from deep and Nell found the roof of the net to make it 3-1.

Bracknell struggled to respond to the deficit and the third period turned into a scrappy affair, with Adam Harding receiving a 2+10 minute penalty for a check from behind and Höög got two minutes for interference, but the home side were unable to find a way past Hedley.

Thompson set up a nervous ending as he fired home with just 77 seconds remaining but even pulling Mettam in the dying seconds could not help Bracknell to level the game.
