SWINDON Wildcats netminder Stevie Lyle has been called up to the Great Britain squad for two matches against Poland this weekend.

Lyle, who was part of the GB squad for the Olympic Pre-Qualifiers in Italy in February where he won his 75th cap, replaces the injured Stephen Murphy.

GB begin their training camp in Coventry on Wednesday, before playing Poland twice this weekend, at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham on Saturday and in Coventry's Skydome on Sunday.

Great Britain head coach, Pete Russell, said: "It is disappointing to lose Stephen Murphy again and he will be missed.

"But Stevie Lyle, as we all know, is a very experienced goalie and has done it time and time again for GB.

"He led us to a win over Serbia in February and he still has the ability to play at a high level."
