SWINDON Wildcats netminder Stevie Lyle has been named in Great Britain's 23-man squad for the World Championships in Croatia.

Lyle, who featured in GB's 3-2 friendly victory over a Poland side on Sunday, is one of three netminders included in the line-up.

Lyle was part of the GB squad for the Olympic Pre-Qualifiers in Italy in February where he won his 75th cap.

Britain will face hosts Croatia, as well as Estonia, Lithuania, Romania and Ukraine from April 17-23 in the six-team Division 1B tournament.

Former Swindon player Paul Swindlehurst has been released from the group, although Mark Richardson, now at Cardiff Devils, is included.

GB, who picked up a silver medal in the Netherlands last year, take on hosts Croatia on Sunday April 17 before games against Estonia, Lithuania, Romania and Ukraine in Division 1B.

Head coach Pete Russell said: "I think we have a deep team and I think we have good balance. There is a real hunger in this team and that is so good to see.

"There were some huge decisions to make. All the guys made it very tough on the coaching team which is what they were here to do."

Russell’s side will continue with their training camp in Coventry before flying to Zagreb on Thursday.
