FORWARD Sam Bullas says he did not need much convincing when it came to committing to another season with the Swindon Wildcats.

The 25-year-old has become the latest player to re-sign with the Cats for the 2016-17 campaign, which will see him spend an eighth season at the Link Centre.

Bullas has racked up more than 350 appearances for the club since first arriving in the 2009-10 season and has become a hugely popular figure both on and off the ice.

He made 52 appearances for Aaron Nell’s side in the English Premier League last term, scoring five goals and making eight assists for 13 points.

“I have been here a long time and didn’t take myself and Aaron very long to get it sorted out once we sat down and started to talk about next year,” said Bullas.

“Next year will be my eighth year so I have been here a long time. I love it here, I’ve always been treated very well and I am looking forward to next season already.

“The way it’s shaping up for next season, there are already quite a few guys coming back and it’s great to have that continuity within the core of the team. I think that’s what you need to be successful.

“We all know each other really well and all get on and it’s important to have that chemistry off the ice as well as on it.

“I feel like I bring a nice role into the dressing room as I am quite vocal, and we have also got experienced guys like Neil Liddiard, who I have looked up to for a long time, so it’s a good mix.

“From what Aaron has told me he wants to put together a team that will all work hard for each other so I am excited to be a part of that.”

Bullas becomes the seventh British player to re-commit to the Cats in recent weeks and brings the roster up to nine confirmed players for the 2016-17 season.

Cats player-coach Nell added: “It was a very easy decision to bring Sam back. He is a massive part of our club on the ice, in the community programme and in the dressing room.

“Sam really cares about Swindon and wants nothing more than to be successful while playing for the club.

“I believe there’s a lot more to come from Sam also it’s my job now to put the right players around him to get the best out of him.”

n SPONSORSHIP opportunities are still available for Swindon Wildcats players for the 2016-17 season, starting at just £5.
