AFTER joining two years ago, Callum Buglass is now ready to step up and be an important part of the Cats team for the up and coming EPL season.

As well as an improvement in his own performance, he also believes consistency will be the key if Swindon are to improve this term.

“I’m expecting to be a lot more consistent as a team. We found last year that we were very good one night and then poor the next,” said the 20-year-old.

“So we need to try and find a consistent level. We have a good mix of guys, so it should be more achievable and we will all work hard to achieve it.

“Max Birbraer and Mark Smith have come in. They are good guys. Smithy will put his body on the line every night for the guys and Max is a big body; a hard hitting guy who can set the tone every night.”

With regards to his own performance, the 6ft 3in D-man knows he will need to contribute more goals and assists.

“I think I need to be more consistent myself. I want to contribute more to the team, so a few more assists and goals.

“As long as the team are winning, I don’t really mind. Hopefully I can get a couple of games and get more confidence in myself.

“We have a lot of the guys back from last year. If we stick to the same, it won’t take too long to adapt.

“Keeping a core group of guys is key. Basingstoke won the league last year but every year, they pretty much have the same team with a few additions.

“It’s a good bunch and a hard-working team. I think we will do well. I’m guessing we are staying the same style as last year.

“A lot of guys know each other, so there is chemistry before the season has even started. They know what they’re coming into before stepping on the ice.”

The Wildcats continue their build-up to the new English Premier League season with a home challenge fixture against Bracknell Bees tomorrow (5.45pm) before travelling for a return contest on Sunday evening (6pm).
