WILDCATS player coach Aaron Nell was delighted with his team’s 6-2 win over Bracknell Bees which is their third in a row.

Nell, who got a hat-trick joined Jonas Hoog and Jan Kostal on the scoresheet, told the Swindon Advertiser he was more than happy with how his team played.

“It was good, we had to do what we had to do. It was very important to get another win and that is our third in a row," he said.

“We started the game well, overall we won all three periods and I think it was a good game, they tried to mix it up a little bit in the third period.

“But we stood our ground, it wasn’t the prettiest of wins but it is another two points on the board, tonight was a good night.”

The Wildcats rushed into an early two goal lead when Nell claimed his first, and Hoog getting the second.

Towards the end of the first period Bracknell then managed to claw one back to make it 2-1, but after that it was plain sailing for Nell and his team as they then led 5-1 midway through the final period.

Bracknell were then again able to get a goal to cut the advantage down to three, but captain Jan Kostal added a devastating sixth to end the game as a contest with 26 seconds left to play.

He also said he would be unhappy if his team failed to make the most of their current momentum going into tomorrow’s game against Manchester Phoenix.

“The first two weeks of the season didn’t really go to plan but we bounced back from that, last weekend it was a massive pull back to where we need to be,” added Nell.

“If we win tomorrow night then we are right where we want to be, we need to win tomorrow, it’s massive.

“If we don’t, then it’s kind of a waste of last weekend so it is a big big game and we need to be ready for it.

This was also the first game the Wildcats would play without Ben Davies as his short term contract has now run its course.

But Nell believes it is nothing to worry about and thinks his team are more than capable of filling Davies’ shoes.

“He is a massive loss, but we always knew this was going to happen he was only a bonus and we knew we couldn’t rely on him,” said the Wildcats coach

“It’s not one player who is going to replace him, we are going to have to do it as a group, it’s about going to the right areas on the ice.”
