AFTER getting one four-point weekend and then another, we’ve been joking in the dressing room that we’re on an eight-point weekend now.

We had one weekend where we played teams from the top of the table but also one where we played teams from the bottom, which can be just as hard.

Those teams are playing with nothing to lose and play high-risk, high-reward hockey, so last weekend was also a test and it’s great that we passed them both.

When you play most teams at the start of the season, it’s also for points in the cup, so it’s really important to try and win as many games as we can so that we’ve got a chance to go through to the quarter-finals.

I think the squad is settled down now because our coach, Aaron Nell, has told everyone what he wants our roles to be.

I’m 35 and Aaron said to me that he wanted me to bring a bit of experience and be someone that plays week in, week out – he doesn’t want us to be an in and out team, like they were sometimes last year.

I think people like myself and Mark Smith have been brought in to bring a bit of stability and as long as people are doing their best and leaving it all on the ice every night – whether that be scoring a goal, making a big hit or blocking a shot – then that’s all we can do, even if we’re not winning games.

The mood in the locker room is really great at the moment and we’re excited about this weekend.

We’ve got Peterborough on Saturday and we need to try and win that one because we dropped two points to them already this season and then we’re going to Telford Tigers, who are doing really well.

Obviously, they’re my old team and we’ve already played them once – it was good to get that one out of the way.

It will be strange going back to that building and I’ll have friends on their team and in the stands but for 60 minutes, they won’t be my friends.

After the game, we can all sit down and have a chat and maybe a couple of beers but for most of the time, I’ll be concentrating on trying to help my team win in that building.
