INJURY-HIT Swindon Wildcats have moved to help soothe their troubles by bringing their former head coach back into the fold.

Former Link Centre chief Ryan Aldridge, who stepped down from his position as Wildcats boss at the end of the 2014-15 season, will be icing for Aaron Nell’s side when they travel to Peterborough Phantoms tonight (face-off 7pm).

Aldridge, 38, first played for Cats in the 1995-96 campaign and has racked up 356 points from his 641 career matches to date.

“Ryan is going to be playing for us on a game-by-game basis,” said Nell.

“Ryan has practised with us the last few days and he’s been fine, so it’ll just be on a game-by-game basis when we’re very short.

“He’s looking forward to it and all the boys are too.”

Swindon have also brought D-man Matt Selby back to the club on a two-way deal from Elite League Coventry Blaze to help ease their current injury worries.

Player-coach Nell and Callum Buglass are currently sidelined with dislocated shoulders while Toms Rutkis is also out injured.
