SWINDON Wildcats player-coach Aaron Nell has revealed both he and Callum Buglass will be out for the rest of the season as they require surgery on their dislocated shoulders.

Buglass injured his shoulder in Swindon’s 7-4 loss to the Hull Pirates, while Nell picked up his injury against Basingstoke Bison last month.

Speaking after their 3-2 win over Manchester Phoenix, Nell said he will continue to look for new additions to soothe the injury blow.

“Me and Callum (Buglass) are going to be out for the rest of the season,” said Nell.

"I’ve got an operation on Friday and Callum is waiting for his operation to be booked.

“We are going to be out for the year, which is obviously not great but we are still on the look for another British player.

“It will be nice to get another one in but the boys have got to step up in our absence and they have. People like Floyd (Taylor), Kyle (Smith) and Adam (Finlinson) have stepped up.

“We’ll be fine. We have to try and score goals in different ways like we have done and we have to come together.”

Their 3-2 win over Manchester Phoenix was their third in a row following their double win last weekend and Nell was more than happy with his team’s performance.

“We scored some really nice goals, I just think we could do with a bit more of a killer instinct but at the end of the day, it is win and we are happy,” he added.

“We had to work hard, Manchester were a bit short but they’re a lot better on Saturday than they are on Sunday.

“We knew they were going to come hard. They’re bottom of the league but they’re the best tenth place team I’ve seen.”

A Jonas Hoog hat-trick fired the Wildcats to their 3-2 win and Nell showered the Swede with praise after the match.

“He was brilliant. Three goals like that, they were highlight reel goals that only the top players can score,” added Nell.

“He’s a great player. We are lucky to have him here and fans are very lucky to watch him every week - he does things with the puck that not many people can do.”
