SWINDON Wildcats have swooped to add the signature of former Telford Tigers forward Phil Hill to their roster.
With the Cats without player-coach Aaron Nell for the remainder of the season and Toms Rutkis still sidelined, extra bodies up top are needed at the Link Centre.
Hill was one of a number of Telford players who left the club at the tail-end of last week following a restructuring of the club’s finances.
The 34-year-old former Cardiff Devil and Great Britain player was not offered a new contract in Shropshire and joined the likes of Slovakian Michal Satek in departing the current English Premier League leaders.
Hill, who has iced in 574 EIHL regular games and was an EIHL League Champion in 2015 with Sheffield Steelers, has scored 11 points from his 23 games so far this season and joins the Cats until the end of this campaign.
Nell is pleased to secure the Welshman’s signature and hopes he will bring further experience to the Wildcats roster as they approach a busy Christmas schedule.
“I’m delighted to have Phil on board,” he said.
“He’s a player with a lot of experience and plays the game hard. He will add much needed grit into our line-up.
“As a team, we needed to have a shake up as the last three games haven’t been at the level we expect. Bringing Phil in will help our team massively.”
Hill will go straight into the roster to make his debut against his former club this Saturday at the Link Centre.
