THIS week saw club announce the date for Lee Richardson’s testimonial match and I can’t think of many players who are more deserving than him.

I first played with him 11 years ago in my first year at Cardiff Devils and he was a huge part of the team back then.

So to come back 11 years down the line and to see him still doing it is very pleasing.

His enthusiasm for the game is amazing, it is very rare not only for a player to play for that long but also to play for one club for such a long time.

I’m very happy for him because he is getting that recognition which he very much deserves, it’s a very positive thing for him, us and the club to see him get the recognition.

That’s why I think it’s important these guys get recognition with testimonials as payback for the service they have provided.

Last weekend, we managed to keep our streak going by winning against Guildford Flames and Bracknell Bees.

Everyone was on the same page but unfortunately I had to leave after two or three shifts, because I got kicked out for a hit to the head.

I obviously took a shower and watched from the stands which was weird because that was the first time I’ve had to this season.

The guys responded brilliantly, they closed out the game and beat one of the most in form teams in the league right now.

It’s hard to agree or disagree with the decision because you can’t see it from the outside looking in, I have a job, the coach always asks me to play hard and I had an opportunity to make a hit.

To me it felt like a good hit, but from the referee’s perspective he might have thought it was a bit too much.

The player was down for a while, so the referee didn’t have much of a choice. It was frustrating for me because you think you have made a good play and you get kicked out so you just have to sit there, wait and hope.

This weekend we are playing Hull Pirates on Saturday before going to Telford Tigers on Sunday We’ re confident at home, we beat Hull on the road last time which was the start of our streak. so we’re positive going into the match, but Telford is always a difficult place to go.
