SWINDON Wildcats player-coach Aaron Nell believes that things have clicked into place with his side as they look to continue their good form into this weekend.

The Wildcats welcome the Hull Pirates to the Link Centre this evening (5.45pm) before making their way to the league leaders, the Telford Tigers on Sunday.

But Nell thinks his side may have turned a corner of late as last weekend saw them extend their good run of form to four wins in their last five games with victory over Guildford Flames and Bracknell Bees.

“Hopefully the penny has dropped a little bit. To be where we are now, considering where we were six games ago, it’s really good,” said Nell “Fair play to the players, they have all bought in, they’ve worked for each other and now that has to be the minimum. If it sways from the last few games then we have to get back to it."

But despite the turnaround in results, Nell remains grounded as he insists his side can ill afford to be over confident.

“It’s very tough, they are two very good teams that have done well - especially Telford,” he added.

“Hull have been good from the start of the year so we are going to have to be at our best if we are going to have a chance.

“We have turned it round and we know the way we need to play now but we can never be too confident.”

The Cats are currently beneath both the Pirates and the Tigers in the league standings, but the Wildcats chief only sees that as a potential opportunity to climb the leaderboard.

“Telford are top of the league so we can’t really compare ourselves to them, they’re the best team in the league," said Nell.

“It’s a good opportunity against Hull, they are a few points above us and it is a good chance for us to start tracking them down.

“These games are important, they’re big games and you have to beat them teams below you and try to take as many points off the teams who are above us.

“We need to show up like we have in the last few weeks, if we do that then we have a chance of winning."

Nell continues to be sidelined with a shoulder injury in addition to Callum Buglass, Toms Rutkis, Ollie Stone and Matt Selby.
