SINCE his arrival to the club last month, Robin Kovar has really fitted right in.

He has only been with us for two weeks but he has already added a couple of goals, so he is performing exactly as advertised.

Last week, he had the flu and was a bit ill but he still played on and he was solid.

It was a different type of game against Milton Keynes Lightning last Saturday night. We concentrated on being solid defensively, after giving up eight goals against Telford Tigers the week before.

That was our main focus, and physicality was a priority. That plan played out OK and Robin was a big part of that as well, so we are happy with him.

He’s brought experience, skill, and he’s not a small guy either, which helps us with our philosophy of trying to be physical.

After the 2-1 win over MK Lightning, it is now our turn to play them on their ice, but I don’t think we will approach the game too differently.

Throughout the course of the season you play around with different tactics and you try them out. Sometimes when you get injuries, you have to try new tactics.

We went all guns blazing against Telford a few weeks ago and that didn’t work out for us, so we decided to take a more defensive and physical approach.

Because it worked on Saturday, I am assuming we will stick to that at the weekend when we go to their place.

We are going to continue with what works. If it doesn’t work, then you change it again, that’s the story of professional sports. You can’t be stuck in one way of playing, especially if it isn’t working.

The new additions mean we have an even stronger group of players.

Sometimes things don’t gel in the locker room, but that hasn’t been the case at all. Everybody is happy and it is just a matter of putting performances on the ice.

Some of the guys are out for the rest of the season and it is tough, so sometimes you have to mix it up and try out new things.

That is what happened to us, but with the new guys hopefully we have found the right way to play. We aren’t going to win every night but we are looking forward to the rest of the season.
