SWINDON Wildcats player-coach Aaron Nell heaped praise on his players after they claimed a 7-0 win over the Bracknell Bees.

Jonas Hoog, Robin Kovar, Thomasz Malasinski, Max Birbraer, Floyd Taylor, Toms Rutkis and Ben Nethersell all notched in the ruthless win at the Link Centre.

The Wildcats got into a good position early on when Hoog and Kovar netted in the first period to give the hosts a two goal cushion.

Going into the final period the Cats were three goals clear thanks to Malasinski’s strong finish in the second.

But it was in the final period the Cats would show their ruthless streak as they netted a further four times to wrap up the win.

Nell believes the result was just what his side needed as they prepare to face Guildford Flames tomorrow evening.

“We played really well tonight and the best part was the third period, we have had habits before where we lay off a little bit but we didn’t tonight,” said Nell.

“It was really important we played well because it puts us in good stead for tomorrow. That is the first big win we have had at home all year.

“If we had a bad end to the game then it carries over to tomorrow but hopefully we can build on tonight.

“You’re in a no win situation really because you’re expected to win if you are at home but the performance was the best we could have done.”

Not only was Nell delighted his side were able to score seven, but also highlighted the importance that everyone chips in with goals.

“There were seven different scorers tonight and I can’t remember the last time that has happened,” he added.

“It was good to see a few of the young boys score some goals, it was a very pleasing performance from us.

“A lot of them play big minutes but it was good to be able rest a couple of the older boys and the imports.

“Obviously they are going to be playing a lot tomorrow, it is our biggest game of the season, we need to be ready to put in a big performance.”
