THIS weekend’s double-header against Basingstoke Bison marks the end of the regular season and it will be another tough one for us.

Basingstoke are in pretty good form at the moment and they’re pushing for that third spot, so we know it is going to be a test for us. We could potentially see them again in the play-offs so even though it is the last two games of the season, we definitely want to make a statement.

Reflecting on the regular season, my first year in Swindon has been one of highs and lows. We have had some really big highs with big performances against good hockey teams.

But we have also had a couple of losing streaks and I think that is due to the injuries we have had this season.

I don’t think we have played at full strength all year, which has been frustrating because it would have been nice to see what we could have done with our full firepower. This year the play-offs are a different format and I think that is going to make it harder for teams to get through because you can’t be a one-game wonder.

The result is decided over six games but because we have been in good form recently, I think it could work in our favour and we could be a dangerous team.

If we learn from the mistakes we made during our rough patches and implement them, I think we could cause a surprise.

We have had good results against some of the big teams in the league this year. We played really well against MK Lightning, so we are going to be a dangerous team.

Going into the play-offs, it is all about momentum because with that comes confidence and that is even more important. We will see how this weekend goes. We need a good performance more than a result, although good performances bring results.

There isn’t anyone who we want to avoid in the play-offs. We are aren’t worried, we just want to be as prepared as we can be.

At the end of the day, you only influence what you can, and if you’re a professional, you’ll take care of yourself.

It’s a matter of whether the boys can to do a job and personally, I believe we’re more than capable.
