SWINDON Wildcats were unable to make it a four-point weekend as they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat at Streatham.

Having beaten Bracknell Bees 5-2 on their own ice last night in the NIHL Cup, Cats headed to London full of confidence.

However, Aaron Nell’s side have now lost back-to-back games in NIHL South One after their overtime 3-2 defeat at Peterborough Phantoms last Saturday.

At Streatham, Aidan Doughty got the first of his hat-trick with seven minutes 17 seconds before Chris Jones levelled matters 57 seconds later.

Doughty bagged his second of the night to restore the hosts lead exactly 10 minutes after netting his first.

With 28 seconds of the first period remaining, Streatham took a 3-1 lead when Ryan Webb found the target.

After a disappointing opening 20 minutes, Cats switched netminders with Matt Smital coming into replace Renny Marr at the start of the second period.

However, Doughty stretched the home side’s lead even further with his third of the night with 33.33 on the clock.

Streatham completed the scoring with 2.26 left on the clock as Jamie Hayes fired the puck into an empty goal.
