SWINDON Wildcats failed to make the most of the momentum from their NIHL Cup semi-final win over Telford Tigers as they were thumped 4-0 by Basingstoke Bison.

A goalless opening period saw both sides have numerous penalties in Hampshire. 

In the second, the hosts took full advantage of their extra man as Aaron Connolly notched five seconds into the power play, after Neil Liddiard was handed two minutes for holding.

Ryan Sutton then doubled the lead for the hosts as they began to get a foothold on the game.

The game was 30 minutes old when Bison grabbed a third through Dan Davies, before heading back to the locker room.

With just over eight minutes remaining, Grant Rounding rounded off the win with a goal, inflicting a 4-0 defeat on Aaron Nell;s troops.
