Bullas capture is another move in Ryan's revolution

RYAN Aldridge believes the first phase of Swindon Wildcats rebuilding programme is on course after adding young forward Sam Bullas to his roster, writes OWEN HOULIHAN.

Eighteen-year-old Bullas takes the number of new recruits to six after following Nottingham colleague Geoff Woolhouse, ex-Bracknell Bees aces Matt Foord and Joe Baird, Romford’s Czech defenceman Jan Krajicek and the returning Gareth Endicott through the Link Centre ‘in’ door.

The 6ft 1in player arrives with a ringing endorsement from Corey Neilson, the coach of the Elite League Nottingham Panthers where he plied his trade last term.

Bullas, who comes in on a deal allowing him to play for Nottingham when not in Wildcats action, also played for Nottingham’s Lions side, who lifted the English National League, and was among the top 10 scorers with 15 goals and 17 assists from 27 matches.

Aldridge said: “He is a power forward that has proved that he can find the net and make the pass.

“Unlike a lot of young players that have been coming through the system lately, Sam has demonstrated that he knows his role and knows that he will be an energy guy for us.

“He'll be taking the body, working hard all over the ice and chipping in with the points where he can.

“He (Bullas) wants to grasp the opportunity we’re giving him with both hands and make a positive impression in Swindon.

“Like Housey (Woolhouse), Sam is joining us from the Nottingham Panthers and knows what it will take to be a professional player both on and off the ice.” Aldridge himself is one of four returnees to the Cats roster, with Lee Richardson and forwards Aaron Nell and Jozef Kohut also signed.

He added: “We’re talking about building it up over two or three years and we’re going the right way. There is still plenty to do, but I’m very pleased with it so far.’’
