SWINDON Wildcats have recruited veteran netminder Chris Douglas onto their roster for the for this weekend’s Elite League double-header.
Douglas, 30, is no stranger to Wildcats fans having been a key member of the 2004/05 and 2005/06 campaigns, and the gloveman was voted the Cats’ player of the season in 2005.
After the recent release of Geoff Woolhouse following last weekend’s on-ice incident with Ryan Watt of the Slough Jets, Ryan Aldridge and Simon Anderson have been forced into acting fast to sign Douglas up in time for today’s trip to Peterborough Phantoms.
The London-born backstop spent two seasons with the Bracknell Bees organisation before taking time away from the intense schedule of the English Premier League.
But having settled in Swindon, Douglas has been training regularly with the team throughout the season and has answered Aldridge’s call as emergency cover whilst the long term netminding situation is resolved at the club.
