Wildcats gunned down by Jets

SWINDON Wildcats were beaten 4-1 by high-flying Slough Jets at the Link Centre tonight, as their English Premier League play-off hopes continued to hang in the balance.

A lacklustre first period saw Ryan Aldridge’s men fail to capitalise on three powerplays and Jets gloveman Gregg Rockman was rarely tested.

Wildcats also suffered a blow when Jozef Kohut went off injured midway through the first period, following a collision.

Slough got off the mark at 21:32 as Blaz Emersic hit home on the powerplay, with Jan Krajicek serving time off the ice for a hooking penalty.

At 26:00 the lead was doubled through Michael Bowman and the visitors looked well in control of proceedings.

There were no further goals until 55:24, when the underrated Sam Bullas struck home Swindon’s first to put them back in it at 2-1.

But Emersic restored the two-goal advantage at 57:26, and after Swindon player-coach Aldridge pulled netminder Chris Douglas in a desperate bid to get the hosts back in it, Peter Poljacek was left with an easy empty net goal to make it 4-1 with 53 seconds left.

Swindon take on play-off rivals Bracknell Bees on Sunday.

Bullas is underrated, he brings hard work, determination and many good ethic factors that too many of the Wildcats lack.
Nell rarely hits the target and never passes, the imports apart from Kraicjek are woefful.
Sam and James Griffin will go elsewhere - like Ciaran Long and Sam Waller, low pay and little ice time if the policy of 3rd rate imports being overpaid and the kids on peanuts continues.
