Wildcats' two-point strategy

8:20am Friday 12th March 2010

SWINDON Wildcats go into their weekend double-header in the English Premier League knowing two points is a minimum return from consecutive home games against Guildford Flames and Slough Jets.

After putting in a terrific performance to overwhelm Bracknell Bees 8-0 at the Link Centre last weekend, Cats were narrowly beaten on away ice at Slough on Sunday as Lady Luck deserted them for 60 minutes. But the victory over Bracknell, their rivals for the final EPL play-off spot, has galvanised Swindon.

Whilst the weekend’s fixtures appear daunting, Ryan Aldridge’s side will be backing themselves to force at least one result.

The Link Centre side more than held their own in the equivalent encounter with Slough last time out, with Lee Richardson’s ghost goal and Joe Baird’s unfortunate own goal off his skate artificially widening the narrowest of gaps between the sides.

With Bracknell hosting rock bottom Romford Raiders tomorrow, Cats need to up the ante against third-placed Guildford in pursuit of two precious points.

The Flames come into the contest off the back of one of their poorest runs of form of the season, a three-game streak without a win, and Aldridge’s men will be charged both with maintaining that barren spell and the momentum which has seen the Cats pick up five points from their last four games.

Swindon lie just two points behind the Bees going into what is potentially the make or break weekend of the EPL season from a Cats’ perspective.

The Swindon Robins speedway team will be in attendance at the Wildcats clash with Guildford tomorrow.

The Robins, who recently unveiled their 2010 line-up to the local media, will be on hand during the game breaks to sign autographs for Cats fans in attendance.

The Wildcats have also launched their March Madness season ticket offer, giving fans to cash in on cut-price tickets for next year’s EPL.

The club is offering large discounts on tickets, should they be purchased before the end of the month, whilst supporters have the option to pay for the package over the course of the next six months.

Under the structure of the March Madness prices, based on 27 home games, adults can purchase a season ticket for £216, concessions are priced at £135, and senior citizens (60 years and over), children under the age of 16 and NUS cardholders are £95.

A family ticket for two adults and two children costs £567, whilst a family ticket for one adult and three children is £486.

After the end of March, the club will continue to offer discounted prices on season tickets under the earlybird offer.

Prices, based on 27 home games, are £243 for adults, £162 for concessions, and £121.50 for senior citizens, children and NUS cardholders.

A family ticket for two adults and two children will be £621 and the equivalent for one adult and three children will be £540.
