SWINDON Wildcats’ potent-looking forward line has been completed with the re-signing of the talismanic Jonas Hoog for the 2011/12 English Premier League campaign.

Only yesterday the outlook appeared bleak for Cats fans hoping for the return of the freescoring Swede, after head coach Ryan Aldridge told the Advertiser he had begun to look elsewhere while waiting for a response from Hoog.

But Swindon have since tied up a deal to bring the forward back to the Link Centre, and Aldridge is understandably jubilant with his fourth and final import capture.

“Hoog was a massive part of our team last year, it took me three attempts to get him here and he was worth the wait,” he said.

“Jonas is exciting to watch and is dangerous for other teams every time he has the puck. He was a key guy for us to bring back and I am so happy we have got it all wrapped up.”

After amassing in excess of 50 points in his debut season for Cats, Hoog’s return will no doubt excite Swindon fans further after the acquisitions of Michal Pinc and Jaroslav Cesky suggested Cats’ offence may be a force to be reckoned with in the coming term.

And Aldridge believes he has strengthened significantly in recent weeks.

Manchester Phoenix coach Tony Hand spoke in the week of the increasing quality of the EPL, singling out Swindon and Sheffield Steeldogs for special praise.

Those words were not lost on Aldridge, who agreed the league looks a lot stronger this time around.

“I’m really happy with the way we’re looking, but there have been other teams doing well too,” he told the Advertiser.

“Sheffield should be improved and Bracknell have been spending a lot more, although I’m not sure where that has come from. We’ve been doing well so far and hopefully we are putting something together that will look good for next year.”
