AARON Nell and his Swindon Wildcats team mates will be looking to put the record straight when they host Basingstoke Bison at the Link Centre tomorrow night (face-off 5.45pm).
Wildcats were on the wrong end of a 6-1 home defeat when the two sides last met on December 27 despite coming off the back of an impressive 8-2 victory over Telford Tigers the week before.
The forward told the Advertiser Wildcats will take to the ice looking for revenge, but insisted the scoreline flattered the visitors in their previous meeting.
“I remember they got a few lucky goals that night,” he said. “Later in the game our netminder (Thomas Murdy) got injured which made things more difficult, and it really wasn’t a 6-1 game.
“I don’t think we deserved to lose so heavily, but we certainly did not deserve to win.
“They are a big team with a lot of experience, so they will be tough, but we will be looking for a more positive result this time.
“They are an all-round good team, so if we let them play we could be in trouble.
“We need to work hard, because when we work hard we are capable of beating any team in the league.”
Nell has been a consistent performer for Wildcats since returning to the club at the start of November, but has challenged himself to do more as they begin their charge for the play-offs.
“It was great to come back to the club, and I think things have been going ok,” he said.
“But now we are getting to the stage where we need to start winning more games and putting teams away easier.
“Myself and Jonas (Hoog) have got to start winning games for us, and take the pressure off some of the other guys, so that is what we are going to aim to do.
“We have 20 games left now, and a lot of them are against the teams immediately around us, and these are very important.
“In football they get called six pointers, so I suppose we should call them four pointers because they are that important.
“We know we are capable of beating anyone in the league, and we are not happy being down in seventh place, because we think we should be up in fourth or fifth really.”
