SWINDON Wildcats have continued to strengthen their roster with the re-signing of forward Nicky Watt ahead of the 2012/13 English Premier League campaign.

Watt, who enjoyed a successful year with the Wildcats last term as he found the net 22 times and added 25 assists, has penned a one-year deal with the Link Centre outfit.

Head coach Ryan Aldridge was delighted to have secured Watt’s services for the forthcoming season.

He said: “Watty had a great season for the club last year and he is the kind of player I want to have on my team.

“He knows his role on the ice really well and he gets into the right positions at the right time and reads the game really well.

“His job in the team is a tough one and it’s a role that lots of other players are scared to take on or they’re just not capable of doing, but Nicky thrives on the challenge and he carries it out brilliantly.

“He constantly ends the season around the 50-point mark and he wins a high percentage of his draws. He protects the line as well as his team mates and it is great to know that he will still be here next season.”

Watt becomes the sixth confirmed acquisition for the Cats so far during the off-season, with netminder Thomas Murdy, defenders Paul Swindlehurst and Shane Moore and forwards Aldridge and Aaron Nell also signed on in preparation for next term.
