SWINDON Leopards just missed out on a place in the English Under 16 play-offs next month - despite a 2-0 away win in Peterborough.
It was their eighth straight win, but they still only finished in third place, a point behind Romford who beat Chelmsford 6-3 to dash Swindon hopes and claim runners-up spot behind league winners Guildford.
Leopards were left to rue an indifferent start to the season when they lost three of their opening six games.

Goals from Adam Harding at 9.56, when shorthanded, and an empty net effort from Joey Lewis with 49 seconds remaining sealed the win in Peterborough.

n Swindon Cougars were unable to hold their slender 3-2 lead in the second leg of their semi-final match against Sheffield Steelhawks.
They were swept aside 10-2, an interference penalty after two minutes giving the visitors Steelhawks their only powerplay goal through Joshua Wilsonat 2.32.
Ciaran Long scored twice for the home side.
