GREENWICH students were left star struck after Olympic athlete Jessica Ennis shared sporting tips at St Paul’s Academy.

Britain’s Olympic sweetheart held PE lessons and joined students in a heptathlon event of seven challenges including hurdles and sprints on Thursday.

The former world champion also led an assembly of around 700 pupils from four primary schools and two secondary schools who packed in to welcome her.

The Olympic hopeful said: "I was delighted to visit St Paul’s Academy this week. The sports facilities at the school are excellent and the kids are all lovely and so enthusiastic about athletics."

"It’s great to know that they will be backing the team this summer."

St Paul’s director of sport Niall McCann said: "She was just fabulous. We are all on a high.

"It was a day full of exciting learning outside the classroom."

He added she was a role model to students and was open and welcoming - even giving pupils hugs if they asked.

Ennis broke the heptathlon British record on May 20 and will compete in her first Olympic event in a few weeks.

Athletic sponsor Aviva has been backing the GB & NI Team since 1999.

They are hosting a competition for communities to win a day with Jessica. Search for 'Aviva Athletics' on Facebook to enter.
