MORE than 100 volunteers will be on hand to greet and guide Olympic tourists around Waltham Forest later this month.

The volunteers have already been trained and are ready to help visitors find their way around the borough to cafes, restaurants and pubs during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

They will also be able to provide travel tips when they work their four-hour shifts on the busiest days of London 2012.

The guides will be dressed in green jackets and include those who speak foreign languages including German, Italian, French, Russian and Chinese.

They will soon be on hand when the Olympic torch comes to the borough on Saturday, July 21.

Walthamstow rubbish and recycling collections will start from 4am because of these visitors. Instead of welcoming them, I'd like to see the volunteers shoo them away. That way I, and thousands of others, might be able to get some sleep before we go to work.
