RAYCHEM B managed to stop Razzle Dazzle from shining but the visitors still returned home with a 41-34.

Razzle Dazzle have averaged more than 60 goals a match so far this term and it was a great effort from the Raychem girls to force them all the way to the final whistle.

The first quarter was a low-scoring affair, with both attacks struggling with the windy conditions and coming up against some excellent defending.

Dazzle opened up a three-goal lead before Sam Parker registered Raychem’s first score.

Goals were proving difficult to come by but GA Zoe Hawkins showed some good movement trying to move the athletic Dazzle defenders away from the goal.

At the opposite end, defenders Sam Uden and Vicki Wilson did a great job restricting the Dazzle GS and GA, and the score remained close throughout the quarter.

The line-up remained unchanged for the second quarter and Hawkins netted three consecutive goals for Raychem as they took a 10-9 lead.

The hosts were struggling against some robust Dazzle challenges, which resulted in the Dazzle WA and centre getting a warning from the umpire for too much contact.

Hawkins’ movement was creating opportunities which both she and Parker seized on.

Sam Uden and Vicki Wilson continued to enjoy success against the Dazzle attackers, with Uden picking up several rebounds off the ring and Wilson getting some good interceptions.

In the third quarter, Wilson moved to GK and player-of-the-match Amy Corrie came on as GD, however, encouraged by fresh legs, Dazzle came flying out of the blocks and scored nine goals without a reply from Raychem.

But the home side weren’t about to roll over and showed great determination and team spirit to pull the score back to 25-23, Hawkins in particular showing that she was desperate to win.

However Dazzle, having demolished every side that they’ve played this year, used their immense physical presence and some incredibly accurate shooting to finish the quarter with a seven-goal lead.

The Raychem line-up remained unchanged in the final quarter and they set about closing the deficit. Hawkins scored two quick goals and then one from Parker helped close the gap to four, however, despite Walker stepping in to make three brilliant interceptions, Razzle fought back to win the match by seven.
