NATIONWIDE’S regional team started this season’s campaign with a win over Old Chelts.

Going into the fourth quarter only two goals ahead, superb defending by Shannon Stephenson and Debbie Allen in the circle, good court play by Kathryn Sell, Rachel Eley and Carla Firth, finished by great movement and accurate shooting by Faye Green, and Kate Norton Hewins - returning after the birth of her daughter, saw Nationwide through to a 44-39 victory.

Raychem’s regional team lost to last year’s league winners, Aquarians 51-26.

In the Swindon & District League, Marlborough secured their first win of the season in Division Five, beating Croft F 36-31.

Izzy Harding (Croft), Halle Gordon-Jeary (Croft), Ruby Soellner (Marlborough) and Freinet Evill (Marlborough) were named players of the match.

Also in Division Five, Coleview beat Fairford C 28-10 and Fairford A also lost 45-42 to Pinehurst B in Division Two. Fairford B beat Moredon C 52-31.

In Division One, Delta Reds A beat Burmah A 35-24, while Abbey Meads A won their third match in row, beating Raychem C 60-28.

Player of the match for Abbey was Emily McBride (GK) who kept her defence in check, and displayed impressive holds against the Raychem shooters.

Abbey Meads F beat Pinehurst E 40-9, with new players Amelia Drew and Sophie Clark excelling and Emily Marsden being awarded player of the match for Abbey.

Jets A versus Raychem D proved to be a tight game, with the teams drawing going into the final quarter but Jets winning 48-36.

Raychem A impressively beat Moredon A 89-47, Raychem B beating Pinehurst A 46-37, and Raychem F winning 67-16 over Abbey Meads E.
