PINEHURST Netball Club’s regional team secured their first win of the season in Regional League Two, seeing off league leaders Crossbow from Bristol.

Pinehurst’s Ellie Swatridge (goal attack) shot an average of more than 90 per cent and was named player of the match in the 55-53 success.

Nationwide’s regional team beat Babylon 43-34 for their second win of the season, with the defence of Rachel Kelly, Shannon Stephenson and Hayley Neate outstanding.

Lawn’s regional team took on Trident from Taunton, going down by four goals as goal defence Naomi Wilcock was named player of the match.

In the Swindon & District Netball Association’s Division Two, Pinehurst B went top of the league with an emphatic 74-31 win over Nationwide B.

In the same division, Pinehurst C overcame Raychem C 49-32 with a fine second-half display.

In Division Five, newly-formed Pinehurst E enjoyed a magnificent final quarter against Croft F, coming back from a seven-goal deficit to win with the last shot – 30-29.

Pinehurst A and D weren’t as successful, the A team losing to Raychem A 47-21 and the D team losing to Purton 30-18.

Raychem’s D side in Division Three beat Abbey Meads C 58-24, goal keeper Beth Allen being player of the match.

Nationwide C took on Abbey Meads D with just seven players, but were ahead by 17 goals by half time, eventually winning 49-12 with Sian Corbyn the player of the match.

Fairford A also had a poor start against Croft B in Division Two, losing the first quarter 16-7. But they won every subsequent quarter after, winning the match 56-34, with goal attack Sasha Gibb awarded player of the match.

Lawn A, in Division 1, edged clear of Delta Reds A to win 45-42, with goal attack Scarlett Smith the player of the match.

Lawn B took on Moredon B and found form in the last two quarters and winning 37-26 as goal shooter/attack Abby Simpson was player of the match.

Lawn C continued their winning streak beating Croft C 35-33, goal keeper Emily Connolly the player of the match, while Lawn D lost 34-25 to Croft D.

It was another successful Saturday for Wootton Bassett, securing two wins. The A team were 66-14 victors over Jets, the B team getting past Faringdon 36-31, player of the match Stephanie Ramirez excelling as goal keeper.
