PINEHURST B, who were promoted this season, held on to claim a narrow 39-36 Swindon & District Winter League Division One victory over Lawn A at Dorcan on Saturday.

Throughout the first quarter the sides matched each other goal for goal but the last session proved a battle of wills, with Pinehurst finally pulling clear.

Player of the match for Pinehurst was wing attack Rosie Rusga, with goal shooter Holly Thompson receiving similar honours for Lawn.

Lawn B took on Raychem C in Division Two, taking an eight-goal lead in the first quarter.

Crucial interceptions from goal defence Elhana Drury allowed Lawn to keep the lead throughout, eventually pulling out a 49-36 success with wing attack Jess Hembrough the player of the match.

Fairford A were 51-26 winners over Lawn C, for whom Maya Dennison was player of the match, with centre Angie Burrell taking Fairford’s award.

Royal Wootton Bassett A team pulled away in their second half of their Division Three match against Nationwide C, winning 42-27, having led 18-17 at the end of the first half.

Goal shooter Elizabeth Kelly was awarded player of the match.

Royal Wootton Bassett B surged into a strong lead at the end of the second quarter on their way to a 51-36 Division Four triumph over Raychem E, with Banita Mudhar named player of the match.

Lawn D started strongly from the outset in their meeting with Delta Reds C, the fine shooting of goal attack and player of the match Holly Atkins helping them to a 50-28 win.

Melksham’s last-quarter display earned them a 42-37 Division Five success against Royal Wootton Bassett C, for whom Mollie Smith was player of the match.

Lawn E showed their dominance with a win over Fairford C, registering a 48-30 victory, with goal attack Karen Rawlins the player of the match.

Abbey Meads C were 53-10 winners over Ferndale, with goal attack Finty Ilsley the player of the match.

n LAWN’S Regional League squad came out on the wrong end of a 60-31 scoreline against Bristol side Whitchurch.

Lawn Over 35’s had another outstanding 34-22 win over Abbey Meads last Thursday evening to stay top of their division, goal shooter Lynn Palmer their player of the match.
