LAWN’S B and C teams enjoyed convincing wins in the Swindon & District Winter League Division Two last weekend.

However, the B team made a rocky start to their clash with Pinehurst C, trailing by four goals after an error-strewn first quarter.

Goalkeeper Charlotte Clinton, who has just come back from injury, made an impact for Lawn as they finished the first half four goals ahead, eventually surging clear to a 48-27 success, with wing attack Jess Hembrough awarded player of the match.

The C also showed their dominance with a 54-37 win over Raychem C after a level opening quarter, with centre Ebony McIntyre named player of the match.

Fairford A took on Nationwide B and took an early lead in the first half.

Nationwide fought back, winning the third quarter and trailing by 12 going into the fourth but Fairford regrouped and won 44-24, with goal attack Sasha Gibb awarded the player of the match prize.

A tight top of the table sees the top three of Nationwide A, Corsham and Burmah B all on 35 points after eight games and Fairford just behind.

Pinehurst B drew 47-47 with Moredon A in Division One, with captain and goal shooter Charlotte Sunderland named their player of the match.

LAWN’S Regional League Two squad took on Gloucester team Hucclecote but despite centre Kirsty Harris making some crucial interceptions, they trailed 14-8 after the first quarter.

Lawn goalkeeper Julie Harris took advantage of Hucclecote’s poor shooting, taking several rebounds but a bad run of injuries saw them trailing at the end of the third quarter to eventually lose 50-38.

Lawn’s goal shooter Abby Simpson was the player of the match.

Lawn’s junior squads also had wins this week, with the Under 11s A team beating Fairford 12-6 and the Under 12s downing Wootton Bassett 23-1.
